Manager – Operations & Business Development
Position Summary
The Manager – Operations & Business Development will lead the organization’s sales growth, insurance technical operations, and overall business performance while working closely with the Board of Directors as part of a structured CEO succession plan. This is a high-impact leadership role requiring strong commercial acumen, deep insurance technical knowledge, and the ability to manage and inspire teams.
Key Responsibilities
Collaborate with the Board of Directors to execute organizational strategy and contribute to long-term business planning.
Drive revenue growth through strategic client acquisition and retention initiatives.
Develop and implement sales strategies for corporate and retail segments.
Lead negotiations with insurers, reinsurers, and key corporate clients.
Oversee placement of policies across all classes of insurance.
Provide technical guidance on complex risk placements and claims management.
Ensure regulatory compliance in line with Sri Lankan insurance regulations.
Manage day-to-day operations, ensuring service excellence.
Establish KPIs and performance benchmarks for all staff.
Prepare and manage annual budgets in collaboration with the Board.
Lead, mentor, and develop staff to build a high-performance culture.
Qualifications & Experience
Bachelor’s Degree in Insurance, Business Administration, Finance, or related field.
Professional qualifications such as ACII/FCII (UK), AIII, or equivalent will be a strong advantage.
Proven experience in insurance operations, business development, and leadership roles.
Strong commercial acumen, negotiation, and strategic planning skills.
Ability to lead teams, mentor staff, and foster a results-driven culture
