We are currently looking for qualified and experience project staff for a donor funded Rural Integrated Water, Sanitation and Hygiene project (RIWASH) in the Jaffna District

Project Coordinator (Riwash) 02 Positions

Location: Based in Jaffna with travel to the targeted field areas

Job Profile:

The Project Coordinator will facilitate participatory community development processes and build the capacity of community leaders to provide effective leadership and ensure that the needs and rights of targeted communities are met. S/he will also need to establish and maintain close links with local government authorities, identify and build their capacities and link them with communities for effective implementation of project activities. The project Coordinator will oversee community mobilizing processes in order to coordinate community based programs on hygiene and sanitation awareness, good governance, economic development and gender empowerment. The position will also support the technical team in the adherence to guidelines related to health, water and sanitation, disability access , ensuring safe and healthy environments in project sites and will conduct programs in cooperation and collaboration with the local community and relevant local government and other institutional stakeholders in the area of operation

Education, Knowledge and Experience:

– University degree in Social Science or relevant discipline
– Minimum 3-4 years relevant field experience in a similar capacity in the NGO sector with experience in the use of relevant participatory techniques/approaches in project planning and implementation.
– Good technical knowledge of Water, Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH) based on SPHERE standards, PHAST (Participatory Hygiene and Sanitation Transformation) or other approaches including gender and conflict sensitive programming and disability access
– Demonstrated skill in community mobilization, with strong understanding/clarity of project concept, assessment, implementation and monitoring and evaluation
– Demonstrated capacity to establish and maintain links with institutional stakeholders/local authorities
– Competent in the use of Microsoft Office, database development and management
– Excellent English language communication skills (oral and written) and working knowledge of Tamil and/or Sinhala
– Good interpersonal skills and ability to work well in a multi-cultural environment
