Senior Engineer / Engineer (Datacom)
The Data communication Engineer is responsible for translating network designs and business requirements into real-time data communication infrastructure. Also she/he is responsible for managing and maintaining IP/data communication infrastructure which interconnects critical telecommunication systems. Internally, the Data communication engineer Is a consultant for other departments in implementing new services and resolving issues related data services. Externally she/he maintains contacts with suppliers.
Specific Responsibilities:
• Responsible for managing and maintaining critical IP/data communication infrastructure
• Design and implement data communication solutions as per new business requirements
• Engage in regular standardization and risk remediation exercise of data communication network and security firework.
• Recommend and adapt new technology, drive new solutions/initiatives to improve the infrastructure
• Ensure solutions/infrastructure is compliant to global architecture and Engineering standards.
• Manage and maintain documentation and network diagrams as the IP network/infrastructure evolves.
• Maintain a working knowledge of all network hardware, software, and designs to support Network Operations personnel in identifying network outages
• Liaising with vendors, supporting maintenance installation/integration and technical trials of new technologies into the network
Required Qualification & Experience:
• Bachelor’s degree or Diploma in Computer Science/ Information Technology /Engineering from a recognize university/Institute and CCNP (CCIE Certifications a plus)
• 4-5 years experience in Installing, troubleshooting, and supporting large TCP/IP data communication networks with Huawel & Cisco equipment
• More than 2 years experience in telecommunication industry preferably in Huawei Datacom Networks
• In-depth working knowledge of MPLS, L2VPN / L3VPN, MP-BGP, OSPF, BFD, VPN FRR, QinQ etc.
• Experience with Network Protocols such as SIGTRAN, SIP, UDP, Radius, PPP, Diameter etc • Familiar with prevalent telecom industry standards / specifications like 2.5G, 3G, ITU-T, ETSI etc
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (fluency in English reading/writing/speaking), good team spirit, and adaptability.
