The Role:
The Unix Systems Administrator is a key member of the global IT Infrastructure Operations that runs the Infrastructure that is the foundation for the systems that enable Riverview to achieve our Business goals. You will be part of a team with a mission to run business solutions and deliver operational excellence through services that directly support Riverview and its client’s evolution.
We are looking for a talented Linux Systems Administrator to further extend our Infrastructure service environment built around Amazon Web Services. Reporting to the CTO, the successful candidate will be part of the growing Systems Operations team leading the 2407 global effort that manage and scale our Unix/Linux systems to proactively meet Riverview’s evolving business needs.
The candidate will be subject matter expert on Unix/Linux platforms, Amazon Web Services and provide support Linux OS lifecycle management, secure operations, monitoring, capacity planning, performance tuning and cost effective use of resources. The candidate will also ensure the services provided meets predefined service level objectives in order to meet Business Partner expectations.
Job Responsibilities will include:
Day to Day Operations
• Lead Systems Operations and provide administration, advanced support and operational management of Unix/Linux systems across internal private and AWS platforms
• Install and configure Linux OS on physical and virtual systems
• Help in identifying, troubleshooting and resolve technical issues related to the Unix/Linux systems
• Interfaces with hardware vendors to maintain and schedule repair of systems in a timely manner
• Identify and improve Linux operation processes & procedures by automation
• Ensure system availability and performance by proactively monitoring the usage and enabling effective alerts/probes
• Ensure change management processes, incident and problem management processes are followed
• Implement effective problem management processes to identify and proactively remediate incident trends
• Apply patches and upgrades on Unix/Linux systems as needed
• Participate in the internal Operational projects in migrating systems from physical data center to virtual data center
• Perform capacity analysis of the Unix/Linux computing resources and notify the team for timely action
• Provide escalated support for problems and issues. Communicate status of problems and solutions to senior stakeholders
• Provide senior level technical support for Unix related project activities
Job Requirements:
• 7 years of Unix/Linux Administration (preferably RHEL 5-6) & Ubuntu; 5 years in a support capacity; 2 years of AWS experience
• Strong expertise in Unix/Linux internals, Cluster Administration
• Logical Volume Management
• Strong SAN/NAS storage concepts and hands on experience
• Hands on experience in managing DNS (BIND), LDAP, NTP and SMTP (Exim, postfix or sendmail)
• Experience with VMWare administration is preferable
• Strong scripting experience (shell, perl, python)
• Automation experience using Puppet, Chef
• Experience with Systems Monitoring (Nagios, Cacti, Zabbix, Zenoss)
• Redhat Satellite S/w life cycle management platform experience is preferable
• Experience with Xsigo virtual switches is a plus
• Thorough understanding of Operational Support Processes like incident, services, requests, and change management.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Strong organizational, interpersonal and communication skills.
• Proven history of thriving in a fast-paced and often ambiguous environment.

• Familiarity with ITIL and Agile methodologies
• Ability to work effectively with a diverse set of clients in an international organization
