Job Opportunity:
Position: Technical Officer
Project: Agro-well Construction
Location of work : Project sites in Mullaitivu and Kilinochchi District (Main duty station is a field office at each site)
Period: till 28th February, 2015 (including trial period)
Salary scale: Monthly salary is SLR.26,000-31,000 (depending on experience and qualifications)
Closing Date: 30th June, 2014 (Applications will be reviewed on a rolling basis)
Background:
JEN is an international NGO established in 1994 to provide victims of conflict and disasters with care and support for self-reliance. We are currently seeking a reliable and self-motivated Technical Officer who has experience in and can lead constructions for agro-wells.
Nature of Work:
• Assist in the management and supervision of the construction works in project sites
• Project survey/monitoring/evaluation/reporting
• Design engineering work, such as construction and introduction of technical product
• Monitor and control construction progress, quality, cost and risk
• Conduct “Acceptance Inspection” of engineering work
• Needs assessment and data/info collection for planning future projects
• Coordinate with relevant stakeholders
• Perform other tasks as assigned by Project Officer/Assistant Project Officer
Required Qualifications:
• Minimum NCT (National Certificate in Technology – Civil Engineering)
• Minimum 2 years of experience working on agro-well construction (welcoming experience in relief/development projects)
• Excellent communication (writing/speaking) skills in Tamil and English (ability to communicate in Sinhala will be a plus)
• Willingness to travel regularly to field sites
• Excellent reporting skills and PC skills (Microsoft Word and Excel are essential)
General Qualifications:
• Experience in community-based projects (preferable)
• Being able to demonstrate competence of technical skills, to meet tight deadlines, and to solve problems in stressful conditions
• Act as a team player who can collaborate with colleagues and contribute to achieving the goal of the project
