Core Network Engineer

Major Job Responsibility:

– Install, configure, and maintain Service Provider Network Elements and Services
– Install new hardware systems and software / IOS for networks
– Linux, Sollaris Server Administration
– Perform troubleshooting problems of networking elements ranging from Cisco
– ME3400 switches to Cisco GSR/ASR routers, Huawei Routers and Servers
– Monitors system performance, capacity and availability and implements performance tuning and recommend improvements
– Perform daily Network /System Backup procedures
– Plan ,support and attend to special projects and new deployments
– Documenting network problems and resolution logs for future reference

Qualifications / Skills and Other Requirements:

– A Bachelor Degree from a recognized university in Engineering/Computer Science or an equivalent qualification in the relevant field
– Professional qualifications CCNA/CCNP
– Professional qualifications in Juniper/Huwaei Systems is an added advantage
– Experience in the Operation and Maintenance of IP Networks
– Hands-on configuration/troubleshooting and operational knowledge of CISCO Routers, Switches, Huawei Routers & Switches and Linux/Solaris Servers
– ln-depth knowledge of technologies (MPLS) and routing protocols (BGP)
– Problem-solving abilities
– Experiences in the testing, installation and operation of Cisco Routers (7600 and 12000 series) and other vendor systems such as Juniper/Huawei in a Service provider environment and working with technologies of (MPLS ) and
protocols (BGP) is an added advantage

Experience Requirement:

– Posses minimum of 03 years of expericance in a similar role
