Post of Communication Officer
The Colombo Plan for Cooperative Economic and Social Development in Asia and the Pacific, which has its headquarters in Colombo, Sri Lanka, is an inter-governmental organization with a membership of 27 countries in the Asia-Pacific region. Applications are hereby invited from qualified and experienced individuals for the post.
Position Summary:
The Communication Officer will directly report to the Secretary-General and work closely with department heads to deliver effective and timely communication of the Colombo Plan activities to the member governments and stakeholders, including coordinating copy and editing Colombo Plan publications. Also responsible to promote the Colombo Plan and it’s activities through pro-actively obtaining media coverage.
Main Responsibilities:
• Develop high quality content, including articles and press releases for external audience
• Editing and drafting Colombo Plan Publications and communication materials ( Focus, Annual report and other publications)
• Mobilize media for coverage of Colombo Plan activities and press conferences.
• Take pictures and maintain database of video and picture content.
• Provide web management support including update content on Colombo Plan Websites.
• Delegating and quality controlling of the Colombo Plan website.
• Maintaining and updating a database of media contacts. Furthering good relations with key journalists, editors of Sri Lanka Media.
Qualifications: University degree in Journalism, Communication or any related field with English
Skills and Experience:
• The Candidate should have minimum of five years communication experience in the field of Cooperate communication, media management, public relations, journalism or similar,
• Excellent publication designing and desktop publishing skills
• Good research and analysis skills
• Photography Skills
Age above 35 years. Remuneration will commensurate with qualifications and experience.
