Contract & Commercial Manager (Location – Weligama)

Duties & Responsibilities:

• Responsible for the overall tender management of the project including: establishing and managing the tender schedule: pre-qualification of vendors and contractors; prepare and float tenders for works; analyze tenders; negotiate with tenderers; prepare recommendations for the client.
• Responsible for the cost management processes of the project including: provision of cost data input to establish the initial project budget; establish the project cost plan taking into consideration the original budget and the tenders received; reviewing and certifying contractor bills and invoices; monitor capital expenditure and prepare cash flow forecast for the project.
• Responsible for the contract management of the project including: identifying any out-of-scope work and recommendation to the Project Manager for negotiation of extra fees; manage change/variation orders; general contract administration.
• Attend project meetings and alert the Project Manager to any contractual or cost related issues related to the project.

Experience: 4+ years experience in site based Commercial/Cost Management

Education and Skills Required:

– Degree qualified in Engineering or Quantity Surveying
– Maintain an Advanced knowledge of construction pricing and costs, budgeting, cost reporting, tendering and suppliers/contractors.
– Advanced attention to detail, particularly in respect to cost plans/ budgets, contracts and cash flow administration.
– Advanced written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to write clear reports, budgets, cost plans, change/variation orders.
– Previous experience managing multicultural teams in an expatriate environment either in Asia, the Middle East, Africa or South America.
– Intermediate leadership skills, ensuring teams are well motivated, organized and able to provide clear direction and manage conflict.
– Intermediate contractor management skills. including demonstrable negotiation skills and inter-personal skills.
– Intermediate working knowledge of software used in project scheduling including Team Binder. Excel and Microsoft Office Suite. Understanding of how to read and review CAD files for the purposes of calculating dimensions and quantities.
– Fluency in written and spoken English is a pre-requisite.
