Education and Child Well-Being Officer

Location: Based in Kilinochchi with frequent travel to the field sites

Job Profile:

The purpose of this position is to provide operational management of Education/ Child Protection (CP) projects in the locations covered under the Area Rehabilitation Programme (ARP). Its key roles will be to manage the international funded education projects, overseeing their implementation and ensuring that quality education is accessible to all children while integrating all other sectors in the field. The scale of each of these projects will be at the community level. He/she will also be responsible for:

– Identify and assess potential Child Well-being Education interventions with a view to sustainability for communities
– Coordinate and pursue operational partnership with UN, I/NGO’s, private sector, local government and academic institutions
– Represent WVL at Education/ Child well-being coordination meetings at field level and report on implementation activities to these clusters monthly
– Manage project budgets
– Would need to prepare and submit regular written reports as and when required.

Education. Knowledge & Experience:

– Diploma or Degree in Child Protection, Education or related field
– Knowledge of the local context and an understanding of development programming
– At least 3 years work experience in a similar capacity with hands-on experience in managing/ leading similar activities
– Demonstrated skill in understanding of project assessment, implementation, monitoring & evaluation
– Ability to engage with internal and external stakeholders
– Good oral and written communication skills in English, Sinhalese and/or Tamil
– Thorough knowledge of computer applications
– Facilitation and training skills
– Good report writing skills
– Having experience in the NGO sector would be an added advantage.
