We are looking for a Senior Database Engineer to join our dynamic IT team in Colombo.
About the Role:
The ideal candidate will be involved in the design, implementation and support of the database and reporting platforms. Part of a small team you will be responsible for integrating data from source systems; the accuracy and timely delivery of data to the development and production environments; keeping the database and corresponding data feeds up to date with source system schema changes. You will apply dimensional modeling techniques to expand the data warehouse design and enrich the reporting capability for our users and proactively participate in database tuning activities to ensure acceptable performance. This position will involve engaging with stakeholders and Business Analysts to discuss/develop requirements and produce documentation to support projects.
Qualifications and Experience:
• Bachelors’ degree in Computer Science or equivalent.
• Minimum of 3 years’ database development experience using Microsoft SQL Server is mandatory.
• Excellent TSQL skills are essential.
• Previous experience of, dimensional modeling and ‘Kimball’ methodology would be highly beneficial.
• Previous experience of Microsoft SSIS/SSRS/SSAS would be highly beneficial.
Skills and Attributes:
• Familiar with standard database concepts, practices and procedures.
• Possess a creative/analytical mind and enjoy problem solving.
• Able to work to a high degree of accuracy.
• Inquisitive, willing to ask questions and actively seek to broaden skills/knowledge.
• Effective communicator.
• Previous experience within the travel industry would be advantageous.
