Legal Officer (Full/Part-Time)
The Institute of Chartered Accountants of Sri Lanka (CA Sri Lanka) is one of the country’s foremost professional organizations that supports over 5400 Chartered Accountants and is among the largest tertiary education providers in the country with a student population of over 44,000. The Institute provides insight and leadership to the accountancy and finance profession both locally and globally.
Currently, we are seeking outstanding result oriented professionals with a high level of responsibility, dedication, competence, confidence, drive and adaptability to take over the position indicated below.
Duties and Responsibilities:
• Attending to work relating to professional misconduct and disciplinary inquiries
• Provide legal advisory and interpretation services to the management to ensure statutory compliance with existing law and regulatory requirements
• Preparation of legal opinions and advising the management
• Review and draft contracts, agreements and internal policies and ensure that they are in compli snort with all statutory or legal requirements
• Attending to work of the Professional Conduct (Ethics) Committee
• Review progress of outstanding litigation and liaise with and manage external lawyers
Qualifications and Experience Required:
• Attorney-at-law / graduate of Law from a recognized university
• Minimum of 3 years experience in similar capacity
• Knowledge of court procedure and investigations would be advantageous
• Excellent oral and written communications skills together with sound IT skills
• Preferably between 30-40 years of age
The successful candidates will initially be offered an employment contract for 1 year with a competitive remuneration package on par with industry standards together with other fringe benefits.
