Job Description:

GIS /CAD Specialist, required for a company in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.

Role:

– The position includes the responsibility for the CAD-based drafting projects and for assisting with the implementation GIS-based projects.
– Specific tasks may include computerized mapping, remote sensing, GIS analysis, database design, aerial photo interpretation, integration of GIS and CAD products into a CAD environment and internet map, engineering and scientific CAD drawing, database serving, and pre-project and post-project product review.

Responsibilities:

– Develops and implements data capture and analysis procedures from vector and/or raster sources.
– Compiles and organizes environmental data sets in a GIS.
– Supplies output of various maps and digital data products as needed for project specifications.
– Executes computer programming for data analysis using a variety of languages including MatLab.
– Integrates the operation of all referenced hardware and software within a networked environment for efficient project execution.
– Maintains, organizes and archives existing and newly developed data and maps using relational database management systems.
– Develops and maintains dynamic maps and data via the World Wide Web.
– Provides drafting for civil design drawings using AutoCAD 2009 or higher.
– Compiling and organizing environmental data sets for GIS and CAD drafting.
– Supplies output of various maps and digital data products as needed for project specifications.
– Where required, executes computer programming to automate drafting analysis.
– Integrates the operation of all referenced hardware and software within a networked environment for efficient project execution.
– Maintains, organizes and archives existing and newly developed CAD drafting maps using relational database management systems.
– Assists in other office activities as directed by the respective Administrative and Deputy Program Managers such as assisting in preliminary design activities.

Qualification:

– Masters in GIS, Environmental Science, Computer Science, Civil Engineer or a closely related field is desirable.
– Three years experience in computer mapping, Autocad 2005 or higher and GIS analysis as applied to marine and coastal environmental studies are required.
– Knowledge of Windows XP/Vista, and ESRI software (ArcIMS, ArcInfo, ArcGIS, and Arc View) is essential.
– MatLab knowledge is desirable.
– Familiarity with other CAD software is important.
– Familiarity with a variety of other GIS software, programming languages, and database management systems (e.g., SQL and Oracle) is also important.
– Understanding of computer networking and distributed processing is required.
– Demonstrated organizational skills for coordinating GIS/CAD/MatLab activities and technical writing skills for report contributions are desirable.
