Senior Software Engineer/ Tech Lead/ Associated Tech Lead

Core Requirements:

• Degree in Software Engineering/Computer Science or equivalent in relevant capacity
• 3+ years experience in Java and J2EE development
• Thorough knowledge in J2EE development including J2EE frameworks such as Spring, Hibernate and EJBs
• Thorough knowledge in Java dependency management and build systems (Maven, Gradle)
• Thorough knowledge in large scale software design including design best practices, design patterns and UML
• Thorough knowledge in test driven development (e.g. jUnit)
• Through RDBMS knowledge with SQL
• Thorough knowledge in working with NoSQL DBs (MongoDB, Cassandra etc.) and Caching solutions (Redis, Ehcache etc.) in Java applications
• Strong working knowledge in Unix environments (Red Hat Linux, CentOS, Ubuntu)
• Strong working knowledge, including deploying and setup, of J2EE application servers (Tomcat, Glassfish, JBOSS, WebLogic)
• Good exposure in preparing technical documentations
• Strong communication skills and the ability to engage and articulate in technical discussions
• Excellent leadership and mentoring skills to drive technical discussions and forums

Highly Preferable Requirements

• 2+ years experience in working with Hadoop technologies (HDFS, HBase, HIVE, PIG LATIN, Sqoop, Oozie, Flume, Zookeeper, MRUnit)
• Strong understanding of Map-Reduce paradigm
• Strong understanding of Hadoop 1.x and 2.x architectures
• Strong understanding of designing and developing ETL systems (Extract, Transform, Load)
• Good working knowledge in IntelID IDEA IDE for Java development
• Knowledge in deploying Hadoop distributions by Hortonworks and/or Cloudera in bare metal servers and/or cloud servers
• Knowledge in web technologies (REST, WebSockets, Protocol Buffers, Thrift, Avro)
• Knowledge in functional programming in Scala
• Knowledge in Scalding (Scala) and/or Cascading (Java)
• Knowledge in Lambdas (Scala and/or C# and/or Java 7) and Collections library (Scala)

Knowledge in the following areas would be advantageous:

• Reactive programming frameworks such as Akka and Java Play Framework
• Real time event processing frameworks such as Spark, Storm with Kafka
• SoIr and/or Elasticsearch
• Orchestration and deployment tools (Azkaban, Ambari, Puppet, Chef)
• Python and/or Perl
• Machine learning algorithm frameworks (Mahout, MLLib)
• Data science algorithms (KNN, clustering, user based recommender, golden path analysis)
• Data modeling and BI tools
• Columnar analytics databases
• Datameer
• QlikView and/or Tableau and/or Pentaho
